searchlight 2.1.0 nearly completed

As I posted into a recent forum announcement, the Sphinx Search for vBulletin product changed name for Axivo Searchlight. Many new improvements are added to the 2.1.x branch.

Most important is the capability to replace curent vBulletin SQL data with Searchlight one. The advantage is that all table locks related to posts are solved. That does not mean the traditional search is neglected. In fact, I will introduce a new feature that will make your users searching life very easy. A little patience, you will be extremely satisfied.

Andrew Askyonoff emailed me to let me know the Sphinx Search repo is now available online. That is great news for developers.

As promised, I released the Sphinx Search 2.0.0 for vBulletin… today.
Read the forum announcement, for more details. I will post there the screenscasts as well all screenshots you will need to understand better what changed since 1.2.x version. One of my customers was nice enough to make a video about it…

I’m in the final stage to release the new Sphinx product for vBulletin. You will be pleasantly surprised with the new version.

Here it is a little screenshot for one of many new options, in Admin CP. In Sphinx 2.0.0 product (compared to 1.x.x version), you have much better grasp of what is going on behind the search scene.

I finally finished the Sphinx Search integration, into vBulletin forum software.

After 1,500 lines of code and a lot of server testing, I can say that the product can be labeled as “industrial grade”. This product is pretty technical, it requires server administration knowledge, as well patience to read the help information for each new option implemented into vBulletin control panel.

The main difference between the freeware and my product is the results accuracy, as well many many other improvements related to the search. My product will return identical results, compared to the original vBulletin search results. Also, all options you currently find in the original vBulletin search are functional in my product and 100% accurate. Visit the support forums, for more details.

Search keywords spell checker (like Google’s “Did You Mean”)

I must admit, the most boring part in web development is to write the software documentation. All my products include the vBulletin help (?) documentation you find beside each administrative option. For Sphinx product, it is imperious.
