sphinx search will not be used in vbulletin 4 +

While reading the vBulletin forums, I noticed a reply posted by Wayne Luke. In essence, he explains that vBulletin 4.0 will not use Sphinx, due to technical and legal limitations.

This is the reply Wayne posted:

vBulletin 4.0 does not use Sphinx. There are technical and legal limitations with including it in the base product. However it has been investigated. The search in vBulletin 4.0 however has been rewritten so that it is more functional for larger sites and includes more cross-content functionality.

    I hope it won’t be a huge job to get the new Searchlight working in vB4. I also hope you won’t be holding back release until vB4 comes out! =)
