server maintenance weekend

Well, it was a little boring weekend.

I’ve basically updated pretty much all my custom server software and created new RPM’s for each new version. I also exchanged few sentences with my fellow developers, through MSN. I’m still trying to figure why AJ does hesitate a little to move in Reading, if he gets accepted at Jelsoft. Ahh, well. (more…)

delete your facebook account

Could the party be over for the big social networks such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo? Last month it emerged Facebook had suffered a 5% drop in members since December, according to Nielsen Online, the web analyst.

So you decide that you do not want to have your Facebook account, anymore. If you visit that section, you are offered only the opportunity to “deactivate”. This merely hides your public profile until you next log in and is an useful option if you are likely to return.

marketplace script started

This will be a quite long product to code, for vBulletin.
I was looking at the current solutions and none of them was satisfactory for my site usage. So I decided to build my own. The project is large because it will be similar to eBay functionality, all embedded into vBulletin. (more…)

optimization package completed

Once vBulletin 3.7.0 is final, I will need 2 beta testers, who will try my optimization package. This is a package that requires server software modifications, as well vBulletin physical file edits. Therefor, it is intended to a very small number of vBulletin users, which does not fit the current average vBulletin.org user.

The package contains several server software optimizations, an aggressive cache system as well a full Sphinx Search implementation with all vBulletin search options. (more…)
